Angel Maturino Resendez, aka The Railway Killer/The Railroad Killer, was an illegal Mexican immigrant, who from 1977 until his capture in July 1999, allegedly killed up to 24 people throughout the U.S.
Resendez used the railways as his mode of transportation to and away from his murdered victims, all who were unknown to him, but who had one common factor, they lived near the railway. He was found guilty of the 1998 murder of one victim, Dr. Claudia Benton, 39, of Houston and was sentenced to death.
Resendez was executed in Huntsville, Texas, on June 27, 2006, by lethal injection.
