Two Men Convicted of Philadelphia Officer's Death

A jury has found two men guilty of first-degree murder in connection with the death of a Philadelphia police officer during a getaway from a bank robbery. Levon Warner, 41, and Eric Floyd, 35, were convicted of the murder of Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski even though neither of them pulled the trigger.

Grand Jury Indicts Maryland Serial Killer

A 27-year-old Maryland man who authorities suspect is involved in at least five murders, has been indicted by a grand jury for two of those murders, a woman and her daughter. Jason Thomas Scott has been charged with the murders of Delores Dewitt, 42, and her daughter Ebony, 20, in Prince George's County.

Police say Scott is a person of interest in the slaying of another mother and daughter in Largo, where Scott also lives. Read more...

Peterson Wants Gun Charges Dropped

Attorneys for Drew Peterson, the former Illinois policeman charged with the murder of his third wife, have filed motions to have his felony gun charges dropped. When he was arrested, Peterson was charged for possession of a rifle with a barrel shorter than 16 inches.

Joel Brodsky, one of Peterson's attorneys, argued that Peterson carried the weapon while on duty with the Bolingbrook Police Department and therefore is immune from prosecution. Read more...

Brian David Mitchell Seeks Venue Change

Lawyers for the defendant in the up-coming Elizabeth Smart kidnapping trial are trying to convince a federal judge to move the trial out of Utah. Brian David Mitchell's attorneys claim the intense publicity surrounding Smart's abduction and return makes getting a fair trial in Utah impossible.
