In February 1995, Eric Roberts was arrested for shoving his wife into a wall. It was not the first time he got into a domestic dispute. The police dropped the charges after his wife failed to press charges.
Roberts had previously appeared in court for fighting with his former girlfriend, Kelly Cunningham.
In addition, in 1987, Roberts was arrested for resisting arrest and possession of cocaine and marijuana after he tried to assault a New York police officer.
