Third Attorney Appointed in Bikini Murder

Sunday April 29, 2007
A South Carolina judge has appointed a third attorney to help defend a convicted sex offender who is charge with the murder of a 20-year-old Clemson University student who was found dead in her off-campus apartment strangled with her own bikini top. Jerry Buck Inman, 36, who is facing kidnapping, rape and murder charges.

Tiffany Marie Souers (pictured above), an attractive and popular engineering student from Ladue, Missouri, near St. Louis, was found in her apartment May 26, 2006 by a former roommate. Her partially nude body was found with a bikini top still around her neck.

Inman (shown in mug shot) was arrested about two weeks after the murder in Tennessee. He is also suspected in the rape and attempt rape of two other women in Alabama and Tennessee.

During a 10-minute hearing at the Pickens County courthouse, Judge Edward Miller allowed Symmes Culbertson to continue to represent Inman, who was not present at the hearing.

South Carolina Prosecutor Bob Ariail plans to seek the death penalty against Inman for the murder of Souers. No trial date has been scheduled.
