About Crime Weekly Poll - DNA for Death Row Inmates

By October 14, 2013

Follow me on:

As DNA technology has improved over recent years there have been several instances in which criminals sentenced to be executed have requested DNA testing in order to prove their innocence. Sometimes the DNA test results have been inconclusive or proven guilt. Other times the results prove innocence and the inmate is released from prison.

Knowing that DNA could prove a persons innocence or guilt, should all Death Row inmates be permitted to request DNA testing before being executed? Vote below.

1. Yes, this should be mandatory before executing any inmate.
2. Yes, but only at the request of the inmate.
3. No, it is nothing but a ploy inmates use to stall executions.
4. No, it is too expensive for too few reversals.
5. Sometimes. It depends on how much evidence proving guilt was presented at the inmate's trial.
6. Undecided.

Definitely, especially when the defendants daughter will pay for it as with the Tommy Arthur case in Alabama. What are the Alabama authorities scared of?

I’d like to find out if there is a way to help Labrant Dennis who is on Death Row in Florida. NO evidence whatsoever points to him being the killer in a double murder. No DNA, finger prints, witnesses….NOTHING. And his attorney tried to point out in court who the real killer is. What the hell is going on? And you know what’s even more disturbing? The fact that Dennis has no priors….nothing! Read the history on this guy. The evidence against Dennis is ridiculous. Is there any way to have the case reviewed? I don’t want to see this guy put down for a crime he did not commit. My heart goes out to the victims, but come on man…, let’s get the real killer.
