(2) Pearl Allen says:

CRIME and PUNISHMENT: It irks me to no end for some “above the law” that gets away with breaking the law. For instance the corrupt politicians. If the law isn’t justified for everyone then why not just open the prison doors and turn all behind bars loose. Little wonder there is so much crime and so many incarcerated today, they have very few mentors to set examples from, including so-called parents to our so-called leaders of our country, crooked lawyers, and our so-called local government, and yes our religious leaders that have lied to people from
day one about Bible Truth. I said it and I am glad!!!

(3) Pat says:

When are we as American’s going to vote these politicans who make these laws, yep they are the ones making and breaking the laws. My biggest peave is that sexual predators are allowed to walk our streets. I am a child of one, yes my father was a predator. I think it is time for all of you to realize these people should not be allowed to be in the public ever. Put them all in one place and allow them to hurt each other instead of innocent people and children. No excuses or reasons to allow them in the prison system. Its a waste of time.

My other problem is, if you commit a crime against a child or old person. You forfiet your rights. Completely. Over done. No if’s and’s or but’s. Our lawyers and politicans need to hear us all.

(4) Patsy says:

I think the laws should be changed so they will get the same sentence as armed robbery suspect. Once convicted, I think that the sex offender/rapist should be given to the victim’s family. Then, I think all sex offenders/rapist should be banished to an island where they are the hunted along with electronic tracking device. Barring all of this they should be castrated. Then if that doesn’t work cut their hands off. You can’t molest or rape if you can’t hold them.

(5) Patsy says:

This is in regards to David Copperfield. I hope this woman isn’t making this up to get back at Mr. Copperfield for something that he didn’t do that she wanted. If she is making this up, she should be prosecuted. By the same token Mr. Copperfield should be prosecuted if he did in fact rape her. I don’t know the facts, the woman or Mr. Copperfield so I hope there is evidence that convicts and/or clears the guilty party. Whomever is at fault.

(6) Gun Crime says:

The facts are clear — guns prevent 2,000,000 crimes. Total crimes in the US are about 400,000. Do the math.

More guns, less crime. It’s just a fact.

(7) Charles Theobald says:

All criminals must face prosecution and and if and when found guilty sentenced accordingly.
I am from Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin, and a member of the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. we have another kind of criminal element ravageing our people. A corrupt tribal council. This council has turned agaisnt our Tribal Constitution and its Bylaws. Led by Chairwoman Victoria Doud, this council has done everything from stealing tribal monies to co-mingling Federal and State grants that were destine for programs such as Elder Health and Transportation to Daycare, All tribal funds are depleted, and now we are over 80 million dollars in the red. Because of this there are now massive layoffs within tribal enterprises and many are force to collect unemployment which will only last a few months. It all started about five years ago when scandal was rearing its ugly head, tribal credit card abuse by tribal officials, discovered by newly elected Tribal Treasurer Muriel Froelick. Needless to say Mrs. Froelick has been the target of relentless retaliation from the other leaders. Along with Councilman Tom Maulson and Councilman Jerome BigJohn, Mrs. Froelick has been trying to expose this outrage that has left our tribe in utter devestation. For more information visit: http://www.ldfnews.com this site was created by another tribal member and seems the only option to spread the word about these criminals. We have been to the BIA, FBI, Dept.of Interior, Dept. of Justice, The Attorney General, The Senate, Congress and many, many news and other media sources all to no avail. Will someone listen.

Sincerely tribal member, Charles G. Theobald, 2008

(8) L119 says:

rape and sex crimes agiants kids the best solution is and this my sound rasist but thats not how its intended. if a white man rapes a child he should have his head shaved and a tattoo that say child molester on his fore head he should be dressed in a pink out fit and dropped off in the middle of the hood with no questions asked or charges agiants the community. same thing for a black man except drop him off in the middle of a clan gathering. lets save the tax payers and take care of our own.

(9) netti says:

only a man would say that it was not rape as most rapes are on women so the majority of man have no idea what it feels like to be violated by a man, only the man that have been rape can sympathise with all rape victims, whether the woman has had too much to drink or not it is still rape, men use drink, drugs and force to talk what is not there god given right to have,.

(10) MSLGWCEO says:

It depends upon the crime. I do believe that since 98% of all new sex crimes are committed by family members and those known to the family and the recidivist rate among this group is only 5% for first offenders, I say, if they have satisfied the courts contract, then they should not be on a public registry. The real predators are hiding in the registries, according to Gus Blackwell, Oklahoma House.

If we target repeat offenders, those who did not know their victims and the violent offender, we could then make sense of the registries. As it stands now, the laws as they are written do “more harm than good.

I can agree with you in part. However there are different degrees of sex crimes which the law will not recommend. Here in the United States, we do have myths, lies and a national hysteria created by the entertainment news media and politicians who for ratings and votes will tell you any lie, myth that they want you to hear.

Teens are being sucked into the registries for consensual sex and classified as predators for the rest of their lives. See: http://www.rickyslife.com.

(11) S. G. Kiner says:

“The Hong Kong Connection” is a legal thriller about a gutsy female attorney who takes on high ranking International officials. It’s a taut, rollercoaster of a ride from New York to Palm Beach to Washington D.C. to Hong Kong. The plot is expertly woven, the characters persuasive, and the dialogue snappy and spot on.

(13) Racey says:

Blame Blame blame…
Its easy to blame grab a beer and watch the next round of the evening news…but…for laws to change one must become proactive as a lobbyist and put those same laws into effect..
The Constutuion protects EVERYONE even pedophiles.
In order for that to change the laws that protect them as far as sentencing need t be challenged

(14) Billy says:

Check out the fbi stats on interracial crimes. As far as rapes, blacks rape 40,000 white women a year, while whites raped less than 10. If its true that only one in four come foward that means 120,000 white women are being raped every year by blacks.Blacks commit crimes against whites 100 to 1.The lack of the media to warn women of whats going on has caused many that could have been avoided. Check out the fbi site along with the new century foundation who did a study on crime and the media refused to print the out come.Remember the truth is only racist to a person who is completley brainwashed. The truth can stand on its own, lies need to be covered up!

Michigan resident says;

If I had a nickel for every handgun that was stolen from an NRA member or a so-called “law-abiding citizen”- and that gun was used in a murder:

I could prrobably retire to Florida.

We need a national law that would impose a heavy fine or maybe even jail time- to anyone whose handgun is stolen and used in a crime.

The threat of a big fine or jail would force most cheapskate, stupid handgun owners to go out and buy a heavy duty SAFE, and USE it when leaving home or the gun store.

I’ve got a 500lb safe that I paid $125 for. (filled with scrap steel and bags full of rocks and still leaves plenty of room for my guns) My guns have NEVER been stolen!

(19) Brad Krause says:

Mike Korman,

Guns don’t commit crime, criminals do. If someone steals your car and breaks the law, should you go to jail? They broke the law BY stealing your car, so you’d automatically go to jail, which is what you’re suggesting. Why punish the innocent instead of the guilty?

Most murders (72%, or so) are committed without the use of ANY weapon, no gun, knife, rock, pencil, drugs, just a person’s hands and feet. Murders happen in jail where people are on camera at all times and (in theory) have no weapons. Bad people do bad things.

The solution has always been the same: Don’t become a victim.

I carry a sidearm constantly. It has never committed a crime, scared a child, or caused women to run the other way screaming. On average, three people a day either thank me for standing up for our rights or ask how they can legally do the same. Sure, people sometimes still cut in front of me at the grocery store, but the gun doesn’t jump up and shoot them.

Criminals commit crimes, law abiding citizens do not.

(20) VDog says:

wife from doing what they did! The registry laws, and especially the residency / work place restrictions, have done far more harm than good. Forget about all the cases of vigilantism and suicide; forget about the fact that while these laws are proposed to protect the children, they include children, while a huge percentage of those on the list committed crimes that had nothing to do with children; forget about the fact that study after study has proven these laws not only are ineffective, but have actually made matters worse. Forget about the fact that upon release from custody, registered sex offenders have one of the lowest recidivism rates, not the highest. In fact those who receive counseling and treatment have outstanding records versus those convicted of other violent crimes! The fact is the registry and any restrictions should be limited to those who are proven child molesters and pedophiles; that Law Enforcement could handle and monitor effectively. Do you seriously believe a committed pedophile cannot walk or drive 500, 1000, 2500, 5000 feet or more? Jaycee Lee Dugard was abducted miles from where Philip Garrido lived!

I am sure we will see comments from hysterical, uninformed individual(s) who will suggest that all those on the registry should be locked up for life or worse and say there is no rehabilitation for these people. And for a few they are right, we need to focus on those! Once a person has done their time, that should be it. That is the foundation of this great country and its legal system. Don’t like it, move to China, Russia, North Korea, Iran, or wherever individual rights are ignored. If a person is a pedophile, lock them up for a long time and provide treatment. Treatment not working, keep them locked up. Many families are being destroyed for political expediency, children of those on the registry are being abused and ostracized at school. Whole families are forced into isolation and restricted from the work place. If the registry is to truly protect the children, then let’s focus on the pedophiles and child molesters’. Get rid of the residency/work place restrictions, focus on the loitering laws. Let the rest on the registry re-assimilate into society after they have done their time, become solid, productive citizens; part of the solution not the problem. The facts, (and the Garrido case) as well as virtually all of the research, and study after study have proven what we are doing now, mostly for political expediency and to appease hysterical uninformed parents is not working and is in fact making matters worse!
