Suspect Captured in Ambush of Orlando Mom

Monday May 29, 2006
Thanks to tips from the public, authorities have arrested one of two suspects who are accused of gunning down a 46-year-old Orlando woman as she got off a city bus then used her credit card nine minutes later to buy gas and food.

Orlando Police said they received a tip from someone who recognized Toris Oliver (pictured above), 20, from the convenience store surveillance photos that were released to the public last week. The other suspect in the videotape is still being sought.

Last Tuesday, Deborah Culin (pictured), a mother of three, was stepping off a bus to walk home to her Copper Terrace Apartment after leaving work at the Florida Mall. Police said when two men tried to rob her she may have resisted and was shot dead.

Less than 10 minutes after her shooting, two suspects were videotaped at a convenience store casually buying junk food and filling up two vehicles with gas with her credit card. A $5,000 reward was offered for information in the case and Culin's family pleaded for the public's help.

"If you have any information regarding this, please come forward," Celeste Culin, said. "I'm only 16 years old. How would you feel if you lost your mother, and what would you do? Please, please just come forward."

Oliver was charged with first-degree murder, armed robbery, fraud and forgery.
