Reality television is about to hit a new low. Remember Joey, Mary Jo, and Amy? Buttafuoco and Fisher? Well in case the names do not jog your memory, don't worry, soon you may be able to catch the three doing a reality show together and chat about the old days.
Yes, the good old days -- when Joey Buttafuoco was 35 years old, married to Mary Jo, and having sex with Amy Fisher, who was only 15. Jealous Amy shot Mary Jo in the face, causing permanent paralysis and nearly killing her. The sordid affair became public, "Long Island Lolita" Amy went to jail for shooting Mary Jo and Joey went to jail for statutory rape.
Mary Jo stood by her man until 2003 when the two divorced. Joey returned to jail in March 2004 for felony insurance fraud. Mary Jo is engaged and Amy, now out of prison, wrote a book.
But now all three are "more spiritually grounded", obviously older, and wish to get lingering questions finally answered -- and we get to watch from our living rooms!
Together Again
"It's time to just put it behind us," Fisher, now 31, told the New York
Post. "We played this all out in a public eye. It'd be interesting to let
the public see the healing process at the end."
"I've been asked about a million times by Mary Jo, 'Why did Amy shoot me?'" said Buttafuoco, "I was never able to get that answer. There's going to be a lot of shocking revelations, and that's why I'm excited to sit down to do this," he added.
It's a good thing someone is excited about it, because apparently the networks are not. Producer, David Krieff told the Post that so far he hasn't been able to find a network interested in hosting the show. Shucks.
