Fetus Kidnapping Trial Delayed Until October

Wednesday January 25, 2006
The trial of the woman accused of killing Bobbie Jo Stinnett and cutting the unborn baby from her womb in December 2004 has been rescheduled until October to give defense attorneys more time to prepare.

Lisa Montgomery, 37, faces charges of kidnapping resulting in death for the strangling death of Stinnett of Skidmore, Missouri. Montgomery is from Melvern, Kansas.

Prosecutors in the case had opposed the defense request to delay the trial from its scheduled April start, but when they introduced additional DNA and computer forensics evidence, Judge Gary Fenner granted the defense request.
