Amber Alert: Kara Beth Borden

Sunday November 13, 2005
A nationwide Amber Alert has been issued for a 14-year-old Pennsylvania girl who was missing from her home after her parents were shot to death. She is believed to be with her 18-year-old boyfriend, who is suspected in the murders of Michael and Cathryn Borden.

Kara Beth Borden, 14, was last seen at her Warwick Township home Sunday morning when her parents were shot and killed. Some reports said she was taken from the house at gunpoint by David G. Ludwig, 18.

Police said Kara Beth and Ludwig were dating behind her parents' back. The parents reportedly had asked Ludwig to come to their house Sunday morning so that they could talk to him about his relationship with their daughter.

"We think they're boyfriend and girlfriend," said Lititz Police Chief William Seace. "The young girl was out during the night, came home, and her parents confronted her. From what we understand, he came to the house."

"Their parents didn't approve of them being together" because of the age difference, a friend of Kara Beth told reporters. "It wasn't because he was a shady character, because he wasn't." Ludwig is a white male with brown hair and brown eyes, was driving his parents' red Volkswagen Jetta with Pennsylvania plates EHH-0994.

Borden is white, 5-feet-1 and 100 pounds, with brown hair with blond highlights. She was last seen wearing a black sweat shirt with "Pillar" across the front, blue jeans and black sneakers.
