New Search Team Focuses on Aruba Lighthouse Area

Monday August 15, 2005
A new search team from Florida, working with tips provided by private investigator Art Wood, is focusing its efforts near the lighthouse north of the Holiday Inn where a belt similar to one worn by Joran Van Der Sloot was found last week.

The belt found by the Florida search team was turned over to Aruban authorities in order to best tested for any forensic evidence. The belt appears very similar to one pictured on Van Der Sloot's personal web site.

The area where the belt was found -- near the lighthouse where Van Der Sloot, Deepak and Satish Kalpoe first told authorities they took Natalee Holloway on the night she disappeared -- is now the focus of a search by the Florida team, with the cooperation of Aruban police.

"...they've taped off an area out there that I showed them where I think would be significant. It's not a large area. The dunes area is a large area, but tonight, they're specifically searching a small area that I felt was significant," Art Wood told MSNBC's Rita Cosby.

Meanwhile, Natalee's mother, Beth Twitty, still believes that the Kalpoe brothers should be re-arrested and interrogated again by Aruban investigators.

"... I'd like to see them questioned again, but re-arrested and interrogated, but with a different approach," Twitty told NBC13 of Birmingham.
