Emma Jean Hardy, 57, was working as a registrar at Memorial High School in Port Arthur, Texas, until her arrest on January 8, 2012, for having an improper relationship between educator and student.
According to reports, Hardy was caught by police having sex in a van with a 17-year-old student.
Texas law bans any school employee to engage in inappropriate relations with students who are registered at the same school. Because the student was of legal age, Hardy was not charged with statutory rape.
