Hargrave was indicted in July by a federal grand jury and was arrested in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, on June 2, 2010.
If convicted, Hargrave faces a maximum statutory penalty of life in prison and a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years, a $250,000 fine, or both.
During the alleged relationship with the minor, Hargrave was also involved in a sexual relationship with the then-Ascension Episcopal School's headmaster, Pat Dickens and another Ascension teacher. Dickens has since resigned as headmaster.
On August 16, 2010, Hargrave plead not guilty by reason of insanity.
