From 1947 to 1949, Raymond Fernandez and his lover Martha Beck conned lonely women out of their valuables then murdered them because of Beck's raging jealousy of other women. The couple was named the "Lonely Hearts Killers" because they met each other and their victims through "lonely hearts" ads in newspapers.
