Serial Killer Profile - Helmuth Schmidt

Helmuth Schmidt placed personal ads in newspapers to lure lonely women into a deadly relationship, targeting mostly new immigrants to the United States.

In April, 1918, in Royal Oak, Michigan, Schmidt was caught, charged and convicted for the murder of one such women, Agnes Domnicik. Police suspected he was responsible for the murders of at least 30 other woman he met through personal ads.

He eventually killed himself while in jail, by somehow crushing his own skull.
