The Defendant:

Alfred Darnell Ford, 54, of Fresno, California.

The Charges:

Conspiracy to commit identity theft and access device fraud and aggravated identity theft.

The Case:

From July 2007 until June 10, 2009, Ford and his co-defendant Donald Ray Jordan (who is still at large) stole personal identifying information from numerous victims throughout California and used the information to obtain credit cards. Ford used the cards mostly to furnish his home in Sanger.

The Conviction:

Ford pleaded guilty on September 14, 2009 in federal court under a plea agreement.

The Sentence:

U.S. District Judge Oliver W. Wanger sentenced Ford to five years and 10 months in prison and ordered him to pay $91,721.96 in restitution. Ford agreed to forfeit his 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, $2,770 in cash, a 4024 square-foot home in Sanger on two acres, and over $46,000 in goods purchased with false and stolen credit cards. Under the plea agreement, charges were dropped against his wife.
