The Defendant:

Jason P. Edwards, 37, of Indianapolis, Indiana.

The Charges:

Conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and to distribute 50 kilograms of marijuana, three counts of possession with intent to distribute a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of marijuana; and attempt to possess with intent to distribute a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of marijuana

The Case:

Robert B. Long, Jason P. Edwards, and James Davis were all members of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, when between March and June 2008, the three used their official positions to divert marijuana and cash proceeds of marijuana trafficking to their own use, at times using fictitious search warrants to gain access to private property and at other times breaking in.

The Conviction:

Edwards was found guilty June 12, 2009 by a Indianapolis jury.

The Sentence:

U.S. District Judge Larry J. McKinney sentenced Edwards to 17 years in prison on Oct. 7, 2009.
