Thompson and a co-defendant entered a convenience store and robbed the clerk. When they were leaving the store, Thompson and the co-defendant, Sammy Butler, shot the store clerk. Thompson and Butler had robbed at least eight other convenience stores, with three of them involving the fatal shooting of the clerks.
Update: Thompson was executed by lethal injection on Nov. 19, 2009 at 6:19 p.m.
