Casey Anthony Tells Mother Caylee Is Staying With Her Nanny
July 12, 2008According to Cindy Anthony, grandmother of Caylee Anthony, after her daughter and granddaughter moved out of Cindy's home in early June, Cindy and her daughter would talk or text message almost daily. In one conversation Cindy recalled, Casey told her that she had a full-time job and was leaving Caylee with friends and Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez (Zanie) - the child's nanny.
During the investigation into finding missing 2-year-old Caylee, the existence of Zanie has come into question. Investigators have said this is one of several possible lies Casey has told police.
Cindy later said she had no reason to question what Casey told her about Zanie, since she had heard about her for almost three years, although the two had never met.
Conflicting Stories
Three days after the phone conversation, Casey told her family and investigators that the last time she saw her daughter was June 9, 2008.
