You can usually find a wealth of information and resources on the website of your local law enforcement agency. You can find crime prevention suggestions for your area, safety tips and any special services the department offers the community.

Whether your local law enforcement agency is the city police department, the county sheriff's office, state troopers or even the college campus cops, they probably have a website where you can find contact information for the heads of various departments within the agency and for community-based programs like Crime Stoppers or D.A.R.E.

How Do You Find the Local Website?

If you know the exact name of your local law enforcement agency, you can of course type it into a search engine and find it. If you are not certain what agency provides your local police services, you may need to use a directory to find the agency's website.

The popular website Officer.com provides a vast amount of resources and information for members of law enforcement, but it also has a database of links to law enforcement agency websites across the United States, Canada and the U.K.

Officer.com - The Directory

To find your local law enforcement agency website, go to this page, click on your state, then look for your city or the nearest city near you.

Of course, if you need emergency service, you should call 9-1-1. But if you need to contact your local police about non-emergency issues or you are looking for information about other local police services, the agency's website is the place to look.
