Manson Dig Finds No Bodies
A search for graves at Barker Ranch in Death Valley National Park for possible gravesites of victims of Charles Manson and his followers has been called off without any remains being found. More than 20 searchers were scheduled to dig for three days, but the dig went faster than planned, with no graves uncovered.
The dig focused on four sites scientists had previously been identified as likely burial sites, but two days of digging turned up nothing.
"So far there have been no human remains found," Inyo County Sheriff Bill Lutze said. "We're finishing up this site and that'll be it for the day - nothing."
For many years, stories have persisted that there were other victims of the Manson Family who were buried in the desert. Preliminary examinations of the Barker Ranch hideout of the group found several sites that they believe were possible graves.
