Infant Wounded in Drive-By Shooting

Tuesday March 27, 2007
An 18-month-old girl in a car seat and a man standing outside the vehicle were critically wounded in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles. Police are seeking the public's help in finding the person who fired 10 shots at the car.

Rebekah Harris was dropping a man off at an intersection when a car pulled up and 10 shots were fired at her vehicle. Harris' little girl, in the back seat, was hit in the face. The man was hit in the chest and leg.

Harris and her 4-year-old son was not wounded. Hollis Roberts, 25, was listed in critical but stable condition, according to police Detective Sal LaBarbera.

At a news conference, Harris said her daughter was not expected to live.

"She's not going to make it, to just be honest," Harris said. "She was an innocent bystander, and she shouldn't have been hit. And I just ask that anyone that knows anything please come forward because my daughter is losing her life over this, and she didn't deserve this."
