O.J. Simpson Sells His 'Confession'
Apparently, O.J. Simpson's search for the real killer is over. In a move that has drawn outrage, not only from the families of his victims, but from those who long believed in his innocence, Simpson has written a book about the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman that his publisher calls "his confession."
The release of the book, published by ReganBooks, an imprint of HarperCollins, will coincide with a Fox Television special featuring a "historic moment" interview with Simpson conducted by his publisher, Judith Regan. Both HarperCollins and Fox are owned by News Corp.
The book is entitled, "If I Did It, Here's How It Happened" by O.J. Simpson, giving a new meaning to the term "pulp fiction." According to sources, Simpson received $3.5 million for the publishing and television interview deal. The television interview is scheduled for Nov. 27 and 29, at the end of ratings sweeps week.
"This is an historic case, and I consider this his confession," said publisher Judith Regan.
Search for the Real Money
Simpson's confession and HarperCollins' decision to publish the book has drawn outrage from many sources.
"There's little that would surprise me from this murdering s.o.b., but this does reach an all-time low, even for him," Ron Goldman's dad, Fred Goldman, told The New York Post. "What's so morally reprehensible to me is that he's pretending 'how I would have done it' when in reality we all know how he did it."
"We hope Ms. Regan takes full accountability for promoting the wrongdoing of criminals and leveraging this forum and the actions of Simpson to commercialize abuse," Nicole Brown's sister Denise Brown told reporters. "It's unfortunate that Simpson has decided to awaken a nightmare that we have painfully endured and worked so hard to move beyond."
Insulting Our Intelligence
Reporter Geraldo Rivera, who bet his mustache that Simpson would be found not guilty during his criminal trial, had probably the biggest criticism of Simpson.
"I think it's disgusting. I think he's a murdering liar. I think he's demonstrating that he made a fool of the jury in Los Angeles and all of the black community across the country that supported him," Rivera told Fox News' John Gibson. "This sleazy, low-down murdering dog who killed his ex-wife, the mother of his children as they slept upstairs, almost cut her head off, who killed Ron Goldman, innocent man, who owes a $33.5 million civil judgment against these poor families."
"Now he's doing this trick where he can confess to a crime that he obviously committed, that a civil jury found he committed, and get paid for it and $3.5 million and use the money to buy a house in Florida where it's protected against bankruptcy and creditors," Rivera said. "This guy doesn't cease to insult our intelligence. I think it really is the most appalling thing I've ever seen."
Where's the Mystery?
If there is anyone left in the world that thinks O.J. Simpson is not guilty of the June 12, 1994 murders Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, it may be some of the 12 Los Angeles jurors who found him not guilty in 1995. A civil jury in 1997 found him liable for their deaths and awarded the families of the victims $33.5 million.
The details of their brutal deaths were documented in detail during the criminal trial, watched by millions live on cable television, a spectacle that put the formerly obscure Court TV channel on the map.
Now O.J. Simpson is back on television and in the national spotlight. What could possibly be his motivation for "spilling his guts," as the New York Post called it, at this late date?
"This is not about being heard. This is about trying to cash in, in a pathetic way, on some notoriety," Sara Nelson, editor-in-chief of Publishers Weekly, told The Associated Press. "That a person keeps wanting to bring this up seems almost nutty to me."

I find this so sad. How must his children feel? Even if they believed in his innocence, he’s obviously exploiting the murder of their mother for cash. This is just wrong on so many levels!
I’m one of those people who don’t think he’s guilty. Too bad so many of his critics were not available to watch the entire pre-trial & trial on TV and didn’t bother to look up the transcript. There is plenty to show that he wasn’t guilty. And, there was plenty to show who might have been. There is far too much rush to judgment based on emotions to allow the truth to suffer. I’m sorry that the public has assisted these families to totally castigate this man and destroy his and his family’s lives even more than this tragedy did. Nicole’s sister & Ron Goldman will receive no mercy for being merciless! FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Did O. J., who was dressed like GQ (said by witnesses at the airport & on the plane) leave the murder site, clean up and carry a bloody glove back home with him? The limo driver said it was 4 minutes from the time he saw the shadowy figure & the time OJ emerged fully dressed. How could the “bloody glove” have made a loud sound & moved a picture off the wall in his tenant’s room. Gloves aren’t very heavy. And, the leaves & cobwebs in the area behind were not desturbed. Who did the limo driver see coming from that area? What did the tenant ask when the police knocked on his door so early in the am. What did he do? What was in a box on the stairs in Nicole’s home? Why did the murderer stand still to drop the blood drops. Why were the Bruno Mali shoeprints going in opposite directions. Why did police wait months to retrieve blood from the gate & O. J.’s car? Why was the detective carrying the blood viles around with him? Why was there blood spilled down the blood viles as if it had been poured out when blood is siphoned out of a blood vile? What about Nicole’s roommate & the drug suppliers looking to teach her a lesson? What about the bloody clothes & knife found near Nicole’s house? What about O. J. & Nicole’s friends who were murdered in Florida at about the same time in the same way? There’s a lot more, Folks. You should study the transcript for yourself.
