Cyber Trail Led to Fetus Kidnapper

Tuesday December 21, 2004
At tip from a North Carolina woman who visited a Rat Terrier message board on the Internet daily, led authorities to the Internet protocol address of the Kansas woman who confessed to strangling Bobbie Jo Stinnett and cutting the fetus from her womb.

Someone who identified herself as "Darlene Fischer" posted a message to Bobbie Jo Stinnett on the Rat Terrier message board saying "please get in touch with me soon as we are considering the purchase of one of your puppies." After a nationwide Amber Alert was issued for the baby cut from Bobbie Jo's womb, Dyanne Siktar of Franklin, NC, recognized Stinnett's name and checked the message board that she frequently visited.

Siktar saw the exchange on the board between the two women and reported the IP address recorded at the bottom of each message on the board to authorities. "My adrenaline just started rushing," said dog breeder, Dyanne Siktar. "I knew they could track the IP."

The FBI traced the IP address back to the Melvern, Kansas home of Lisa Montgomery, where they later recovered the Stinnett baby and arrested Montgomery for kidnapping and murder charges.
