Volunteer searchers are combing northern Maui for a five-month pregnant Hawaii woman who has been missing for more than a week. The search was intensified over the weekend after Carly Scott's burned-out SUV was found Wednesday in Haiku's rural Peahi area.

Scott's dog was found nearby in the community of Nahiku, police said.

Scott was last seen on February 9 at her sister's home in Haiku. Her dog Nala was with her at the time. Her burned 1997 Toyota 4Runner was found on Wednesday.

Steven Capobianco, Carly's former boyfriend, told police that she picked him up Sunday night and drove him to Keanae to work on his truck. After he fixed his truck, Capobianco said Scott was following behind him back to Haiku along the winding Hana Highway.

Failed Lie-Detector?

At some point, Capobianco said he lost sight of her vehicle and he thought that she had reached her destination. He said he didn't realize anything was wrong until police showed up at his house the next day.

Capobiance told local reporters that he was questioned by police and given a polygraph test. He said the police told him that he failed the lie-detector test, but he told the newspaper that he did not harm Scott in anyway.

Scott is described as 5'-10" and 160 pounds. She has red hair and green eyes.
