Weekly Crime Poll: Arming Teachers With Guns

By December 28, 2012

Follow me on:

In the aftermath of the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newton, Connecticut, over 200 teachers from Salt Lake City, Utah, met for instructions on how to handle firearms.

The free training course was offered by Utah Shooting Sports Council who promote the idea that armed teachers can help effectively defend against mass shooters at their schools. Utah is one of the few states that allow people with concealed-carry licenses to bring their guns into schools.

Poll: Do you think armed teachers will reduce school violence?

to the point who and how can our children be protected. a peice of paper or law is only as good as it can be enforced (physicly) a cyco shows up at the school with a sword who will stop him and when an unarmed teacher would not be there savior but a victim advantage cyco you can not stop the killing unless you have someone to stop the killer. the cost of putting a police officer at every school is “too high” what is the life of one child worth. sure there might be friendly fire but a fire fight is always better than a massacer remove the policy no guns in school allow the teachers to make there own choice and accept the responsability like when they carry off school grounds no school policy no school endorcement no added responsability just allow people there civil right to keep and bear arms at there job some probly carry now and no one knows or they keep it in the car no one can protect you if they are not there or have the means to do so noble sacrifice is good but still does not stop the attacer no one can protect me better than i can protect myself because i am always there with me ( well mostly) no matter how many guns or bullets you have they are no good unless you have it with you. freinds ask me what i carry i say .380 or nine mil there responce is oh not me .40 or better i say ok where is yours oh its in the car mine is in my pocket who wins they drop there head and say you but if i can get to my car i win and my responce if i get to my car i will pull out my a r (dont realy carry one in the car) i still win. point is a gun is only good if you can get to it when you need it no criminal or police will wait while you go get your gun to make it a fair fight . in the imortal words of judge roy bean if you want a fair fight go somewhere else
thank you sorry about the rant i know i was all over the place but i hope i made my point. miguel

In my Old fashioned way of thinking, maybe the schools need to be eliminated, bring the kids to a federal building where they will learn on computers, taught by one command center located in outer space. Is that a good idea? no , more teachers, no more principals, no more suspensions, no more proms basketballs, football games, because they will be doing strictly academics. If schools continue to be a threatening place to send kids to learn, something has go to change Pretty son someone will say well lets give evey kid a bunch of shooting lessons and then each kid can defend themself. Then what? As soon as a baby is born the doctor will hand the baby a nice new shiny gun and say “good luck baby”! Oh boy! wont that be something !
