The man charged with the kidnapping and murder of 7-year-old Somer Thompson was supposed to go on trial this week for an unrelated child molestation charge, but that trial has been delayed. Attorneys for Jarred Harrell were granted a request for more time to prepare their case.The trial for molesting a 3-year-old girl is now scheduled to begin May 7.
Harrell is facing possession of child pornography as well as child molestation charges in the case of the 3-year-old. A another hearing in that case is scheduled for March 12.
No Trial Date Yet for Murder
No trial date has been set for the murder of Somer Thompson, who was abducted while walking home from school in October 2009 in Orange Park, Florida. Her body was found two days later in a Georgia landfill.
The delays in justice has been frustrating for Somer's family.
"I'm definitely frustrated that it gets pushed back, but if it's going to make justice happen and make it more profound, then that's exactly what I want to do," Somer's mother, Diena Thompson, told reporters.
Not Going to Sit Back
Thompson said she plans to attend all of Harrell's court appearances.
"I will be there every day because I want him and all the other monsters like him to know that mommas aren't going to just sit back and let you do this to our children," Thompson said.

Need to have more just laws for people who molest children, I wonder if they had not prosecuted him for the child molestation he wouldn’t be waiting trial for murder. He would have been in jail and therefore the child wouldn’t have been murdered. Life without prole for these child molesters tougher laws is what is needed ….
they say that a child molester can be cured i dont think so but i dont think tax payers should have to take care of them.I think we should use castrate them.use a rusty axk and a block of wood.after it done set out on the street it they die from it thats great and if they live .they wont want to bother any kids also a big + is they cant breed .
