A 20-year-old maintenance man at a Georgia apartment complex has entered a guilty plea to charges stemming from the sexual assault and murder of a 7-year-old girl. Ryan Brunn was sentenced to life in prison for the death of Jorelys Rivera at the River Ridge apartments in Canton, Georgia.Jorelys disappeared from the complex playground and was later found in a compactor-type trash bin.
Other than murder, Brunn pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, aggravated battery, cruelty to children in the first degree, aggravated child molestation, false imprisonment, enticing a child for indecent purposes, sexual exploitation of children, making false statements and abandonment of a body.
Brunn Was Remorseful in Court
Brunn offered an apology during his sentencing hearing.
"I'd like to apologize for everything that's done. Lo Siento," Brunn said, apologizing in Spanish to Jorelys' family.
In answering the judge's questions about his guilty plea, Brunn said he picked Jorelys because he happened to find her roller skate and used it to lure her to a vacant apartment.
He admitted sexually assaulting the 7-year-old before killing her and putting her body in the dumpster.
A Brutal Murder
"I didn't want her to go home and tell her mom or dad on me. So I cut her," he said. Brunn told the Judge that he bound the girl with plastic ties, put her in the bathtub and taped her face before cutting her with a carpet knife.
When she didn't die quickly, he hit her with a hammer and stabbed her in the chest. Then he stuffed her body into a garbage bag and put it into the trash compactor that only employees of the apartment complex had access to.
When asked why he did it, Brunn blamed it on his marijuana and methamphetamine use. "I was high," he told the judge.
Victim Impact Statement Read in Court
Brunn also said during the three days Jorelys was missing he "freaked out" and wrote a note on the back of a fast-food receipt that said the girl's body was in the trash bin. He taped the note to the side of the dumpster.
Before sentencing, Joselinne Rivera, the girl's mother, offered a statement that was read in court.
"The rest of my life I am going to feel terrible and destroyed because of the harm you did to my daughter," Rivera wrote. "I desire this man the worst possible of the world, and that they do to him the worst so he suffers."

Life without parole is not the correct punishment for Ryan Brunn. This monster should be sentenced to death. he planned this murder, he had seen this innocent child in the complex and planned everything. Sometimes justice is not fair. It is hard to believe in justice when you get life in jail for killing a innocent child the way Ryann did. To the judge in this case I say ” Justice was not on Jorely’s side”.
I’m with Nelson. Kill him.
This animal won’t last in prison. I give him 2 years before someone has their way with him and he is dead. He will end up suffering much more this way than if he just got the needle.
If you watched the news, the GBI agent was correct. He said this monsters actions after the killing show that he is a typical pyshicopath and he IS NOT remorseful for what he did. How can you even think about doing this tto a little child “freaked out” or not. I’m looking forward to him going to the big house where even child molesters and killers don’t like child killers.
How are ppl put to death by shooting a person….but this sick individual can rape and cut this baby, bash her head with a hammer AND stab her in the chest…n get LIFE? I swear our judicial system is screwed…..smh

This man is the scum of the earth and deserves to die. She was just a child for christ’s sake. Children are precious. They are God’s gift to us.
Apparently he felt something, I believe he killed himself in his cell today.
If you actually think that he killed himself, you’d better think again. I know of a lot of detention deputies that would’ve turned their head in order to let a lot of things happen to Brunn.
These people always make me sick, not only by what they do, but how they are always sorry afterwards. Only sorry for being caught. Should have got the death penalty in my opinion, scum like him do not deserve to live. R.I.P little one now in arms of angels. God bless.
