A photograph taken by a Philadelphia couple while diving in the waters off the coast of Aruba has launched another search for the remains of missing Alabama teen Natalee Holloway. Aruban divers began searching underwater over the weekend for what could be skeletal remains.Deputy Police Chief Adolpho Richardson told reporters that the search turned up no results during the first two days of searching.
Richardson said that members of the group who were on the snorkeling trip were being interviewed in an effort to narrow down the search area.
"We are trying to narrow down the search area," Richardson said. "We have an idea of where it could have been but we are just guessing based on the information we have. The moment we have more accurate information, you can conduct a more thorough search."
Photograph of a Skeleton?
The photograph that launched the latest Holloway search was taken last October by a woman who was on a Caribbean cruise with her husband. Pattie Muldowney took the picture with a disposable camera while on a snorkeling trip.
When her husband, John Muldowney, was later looking at the vacation photos, he noticed that one of them captured an image that looked like a skeleton.
"You can see the skull. You can see where the eye sockets were. You can see where the chin was," Muldowney told reporters. "It's lying flat on its back. And its arms are cradled around. You can almost see fingers. And then on the one sleeve it looks like some kind of maybe clothing that's deteriorating."
The FBI has joined the latest investigation by interviewing the Muldowneys in Philadelphia.
Natalee Holloway disappeared in May 2005 on the last night of a high school graduation trip to Aruba from her Mountain Brook, Alabama high school. No trace of her has ever been found in spite of extensive searches of the small Caribbean island.

I’m sorry but I am so tired of this whole debacle. Although this a sad, horribly handled case It is also a cautionary tale about dumb drunk kids left on their own. I cant help but wonder why she was left alone by her “friends” in an obviously drunken state. I don’t mean to speak ill of the dead or appear heartless BUT she did go off in a car with 3 guys willingly. I mean, what did people/friends really think/expect would happen? That maybe she’d just get raped ? (being ironic, here..) The fact is, she wasn’t just a victim but a typical dumb drunk chick with typical dumb drunk chick “friends”. I hope they at least have some guilt they are living with at not looking out for their so-called friend. And “living” is the operative word here…they are and she is not cuz they bailed on her that night. The teen drinking problem is the real issue here and how they condone it not just in Aruba but pretty much everywhere else nowadays.
Although it is tragic, I have to agree with Jo Mama. The young just think they are invincible. They are young, having fun, and yes drinking to a point where they have no sense. It’s too bad these girls did not stick together and protect each other in numbers. She was a young girl, that made a huge mistake that cost her, her life. I’m sure her friends still suffer regrets. They have gotten older, she is still missing, and they were there. Maybe something good came of it and they have changed and they now warn other young woman. I hope so.
Your comments I understand, but unless you were a nerd when you where her age and had no life then you stayed at home doing nerd things. We all trusted people our own age. If anyone were to say they didn’t they are not telling the truth. Think about it
Yes, burger, since I didn’t disappear off the coast of some foreign country, that makes me a nerd.
Sorry not to be heartless or anything but it was kinda irresponsible of her to be drunk and just trust some people her own age…I’m around her age and I wouldn’t dare trust anyone my own age if I didn’t know 100% that they were reliable.
well i dnt belive it was her fault that guy had put a date rape drug in her drink so she didnt know what she was doing i have had my drink spiked and know what it is like to not know what u r doing or even know where u r so i dissagree with u all
