Searchers Find Body of Shaniya Davis
The body of a missing 5-year-old girl who was allegedly sold for sex by her mother has been found by searchers in a heavily wooded area about 40 miles from her Fayetteville home. Police did not say how Shaniya Davis was killed.Her body was found southeast of Sanford, North Carolina, where she was last seen on video entering a hotel with a man.
Acting on a "good tip," authorities used four-wheeled ATVs and helicopters to search the densely wooded area southeast of Sanford. They began their search early Sunday morning and continued Monday with the help of volunteers.
Fayetteville Police spokeswoman Theresa Chance confirmed that the body of Shaniya was found a quarter of a mile from state Highway 87, about a mile from a larger lakeside community.

Two people have been arrested in connection with the disappearance of Shaniya, who was reported missing Nov. 10 by her mother. On Friday, police arrested Mario Andrette McNeill, 29, and charged him with kidnapping after identifying him from surveillance video from the Sanford hotel.
On Saturday, investigators arrested Shaniya's mother, Antoinette Davis, 25, on charges of human trafficking and felony child abuse, saying Shaniya was sold for prostitution.
