Venue Change Sought in Robert Manwill Case

Monday November 9, 2009
Attorneys for a 30-year-old Idaho woman and her boyfriend have requested a change in venue for their up-coming murder trial for the death of her 8-year-old son. Melissa Jenkins and Daniel Ehrlick each are charged with first-degree murder in the death of Robert Manwill.

Robert's body was found floating in an irrigation canal a week after he disappeared.

Defense attorneys said moving the trial away from the Boise area was necessary because of the intense publicity surrounding the case. Thousands of volunteers in the Boise area joined the search for Robert during the week he was missing.

Death Not an Accident

After Robert's body was found, authorities said an autopsy report showed that his death was not an accident, but would give no further details.

In 2008, Jenkins also lost custody of Robert's infant half brother after she was accused of fracturing his skull. Ehrlick also has a criminal record.

Also last week, attorneys for Jenkins and Ehrlick requested separate trials.

How can someone still have custody when they have had children taken off them for abuse? At the very least there should be constant monitoring and evaluation.

Also during the court case lets see you blames who and does not take responsibility for the death of another child.

It is said over and over again, but something needs to happen, let no more children be physically, emotionally or sexually abused. Who gives these people the right to do this. Plus how many more children have to die before people get it that this is not right and no one has the rights to damage or kill children.

I am considered one of the lucky ones as I was physically and emotionally abused for 16 years and am still living with it 30 years later. So I have a strong view on this but people need to stand up and say no more, let children be children and have a great future and not one that is so damaged that they can not function as well adjusted adults or be killed.
