Yale Student Vanishes Days Before Wedding

Thursday September 10, 2009
A massive search is underway for a 24-year-old Yale University graduate student who disappeared the week that she was scheduled to be married. Annie Le, a pharmacology doctoral student, was last seen in her laboratory Tuesday.

Le's purse, cell phone, credit cards and cash were found in her office, police said.

State police used bloodhounds to search the area around the Yale Medical School complex where she was last seen. Authorities and volunteers searched nearby areas for the 24-year-old student.

Wedding Scheduled Sunday

People who know Le said she was excited about getting married and was an energetic and conscientious student. "She's a very happy person," her mentor, Rocky Tuan said. "Everybody got along with her. She's always smiling, laughing."

Police said Le was planning to be married Sunday, but she has not contacted anyone in her family, her friends or co-workers since Tuesday.
