Duncan was given three life sentences in state court and three more in federal court on the same day.Duncan is already facing the death penalty for the torture and murder of 9-year-old Dylan Groene.
In state court, Duncan was given three life sentences for the murders of Brenda Groene, her 13-year-old son Slate and her fiance, Mark McKenzie. In federal court, Duncan received three life sentences for kidnapping Shasta Groene and for sexually assaulting her and her brother Dylan.
"By any stretch of the imagination, your rampage ... exceeded the bounds of human understanding," U.S. District Judge Edward Lodge told Duncan. "These crimes ... were unfathomable, cruel and sadistic."
