No Charges Filed in Jennifer Hudson's Family Deaths

Although a "person of interest" has been arrested, no charges have been filed in the deaths of family members of Academy Award winning singer Jennifer Hudson. Dead are Jennifer Hudson's mother, Darnell Donerson; brother, Jason Hudson; and nephew, Julian King.

Police are questioning the estranged husband of Hudson's sister Julia, the mother of Julian.

Hudson's mother and brother were found shot to death in their Chicago home on Friday and an Amber Alert was issued for 7-year-old Justin King, Hudson's nephew. Monday morning, Jason's Hudson's white SUV, listed in the Amber Alert, was found about 10 miles from the Hudson family home.

A body in the back seat of the SUV was later confirmed to be that of Justin King. Police reports said King had been shot several times. An autopsy is planned.

Julia's Estranged Husband Questioned

Investigators are questioning William Balfour, the estranged husband of Julia Hudson. Balfour is not Julian's father. Balfour, 27, married Julia Hudson in 2006, but they have been separated about a year. He was thrown out of the Hudson home last winter by Julia's mother, according to reports.

Balfour served almost seven years in prison after being convicted of attempted murder, vehicular hijacking and possession of a stolen vehicle. He is currently on parole.

The case drew national attention because of the fame of family member Jennifer Hudson, who won the best supporting actress Academy Award for her 2007 role in the film "Dreamgirls." Hudson first gained fame after she was ousted on season three of the television talent show "American Idol."
