Couple Faces Death in Christmas Eve Murders

Friday October 17, 2008
Seattle prosecutors will seek the death penalty against a woman and her boyfriend who are accused of killing six members of the woman's family at their home on Christmas Eve. Michele Anderson and Joseph McEnroe were charged with aggravated first-degree murder in the shooting deaths of members of three generations of the Anderson family.

King County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg said the magnitude of the crimes was the reason he decided to seek the death penalty.

The shootings began on the afternoon of Christmas Eve at the home of Wayne Anderson, 60, and Judith Anderson, 61, who lived in a rural area with their son Scott, 32, his wife Erica, 32, and their two young children, Olivia, 6, and Nathan, 3. Michele Anderson, 29, lived in a mobile home on the property with McEnroe, 29.

Police said Anderson and McEnroe walked over to her parents house around 5 p.m. Michele was armed with a 9 mm handgun and McEnroe had a .357-calibre magnum. Shortly after they arrived, Anderson shot her father in the head. McEnroe also shot Wayne Anderson in the head and then he shot Judith Anderson twice.

Returned to the Scene

Anderson confessed that both of them shot her parents, brother and sister-in-law. McEnroe killed the two children, according to court papers filed in the case.

After the massacre, the couple began to flee to Canada, but for some unexplained reason returned to the scene the next day and confessed to the murders. Investigators have not discovered any motive for the shootings.

Anderson and McEnroe have entered not guilty pleas, but Anderson has said she hopes to be executed for the crimes.

For those who don’t like the death penality inspite of the fact murderers are constantly rendering this ‘penality’ on thousands of innocent victims every year;then send them to Hawaii!

What’s sad is, I think Washington is a bleeding heart liberal state, and even though that couple deserves the death penalty for killing six people, including two children, the jury will feel pity for them and give them six life sentences to be served consecutively so there’s no chance of parole. So sad. I remember hearing about this case on the news and it made me really sad and especially thankful that our family doesn’t have screwed up members in it. So sad, especially that the last thing those little kids saw before they died was the barrel of the gun.I will be surprised if they get the death penalty.
