Casey Anthony Indicted on Murder Charge

Tuesday October 14, 2008
Although no body has been located, the mother of missing 3-year-old Caylee Anthony was indicted by a grand jury on charges of first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse, aggravated manslaughter and four counts of lying to investigators about the disappearance of her daughter.

Casey Anthony was arrested again and this time is being held without bond.

"Speaking as a father, a day doesn't pass where I wish the evidence that we have gathered didn't add up to the painfully obvious," Orange County Sheriff Kevin Beary said. "Sadly, I cannot change the facts surrounding the investigation."

Beary said authorities will continue to try to find Caylee's body.

If convicted, Casey Anthony could face the death penalty or life in prison. Prosecutors have yet to make a decision on whether or not they will seek the death penalty.

With the grand jury indictment apparent, Casey Anthony's attorney held a press conference at which he told reporters that the 22-year-old mother is innocent.

"Casey is going through a nightmare," Jose Baez said. "I sincerely believe that when we have finally spoken, everyone, and I mean everyone, will sit back and say, 'Now, I understand. That explains it.'"

No Sign of Caylee Anthony

The case came to the attention of law enforcement in July when the child's grandmother, Cindy Anthony, called police and said she had not seen Caylee Anthony in more than a month. She also said the trunk of her daughter's car smelled like death.

Casey Anthony told police that she left Caylee with a babysitter on June 22, but when she returned from work, they were both gone. She said she launched her own investigation into the child's disappearance, but did not call police because she was scared.

But the story she told investigators did not add up. The apartment where she said she left Caylee had been vacant for months. They discovered that she lied about where she was employed. Almost everything she told police was contradicted by the facts.

At the time, police charged her with child neglect, but later they charged her with several counts of forgery and theft related to Casey stealing checks from a friend and using them to get cash and merchandise.

i hope this all comes to an end soon… i believe casey killed her daughter, but i do not feel she should be sentenced to death…

my prayers go out to george, cindy, and lee… i think what george did yesterday in testifying against his daughter was one of the most courageous things someone could do…

I think 1st degree murder is right on. I believe Casey planned to kill Caylee because she was jealous of Caylee and Cindy’s bond. It was obviously premeditated. If im correct than hell yes she deserves the death penalty but I doubt she’ll get it.

Casey is nothing but a cold blooded psycopathic killer without conscience, no empathy, she is a threat to society now that she is in custody I hope and pray they keep her there. That bitch needs to fry, I am all for the death penalty. Let her reunite with the devil. What that poor innoncent beautiful
little angel had to go threw at the hands of
her evil mother.

i am not opposed to the death penalty at all… i just hope they find caylee’s body before they seek the death penalty on casey… i would hate for anything in this trial to happen and the whole thing get thrown out or dismissed…

Thank you for keeping us updated about this case. I think Casey Anthony is a sociopath. Sadley, there are many people out there like her. We are praying that little Caylee is found, but are beginning to lose hope.

In case anyone wants to hear the story from the beginning on this case it can be found at http://www.dragondefensesupply.com/blog under the section of missing persons. Casey should serve the rest of her life behind bars if she is found guilty.

I am hoping they offer Casey some sort of plea bargain in exchange for her confession and location of Caylee’s body. That sweet child needs a proper funeral and burial. Maybe they will threaten her with the death penalty to get her to talk? Now that her ass is on the line she NEEDS to start talking. I’m sick and tired of hearing “once the truth comes out it will all make sense”. It will NEVER make sense. NO caring mother waits 30 days to report their child missing then fails to cooperate with the police. If you want your child found you cooperate. If you don’t want the body found you do what Casey did.

i don’t know if we will ever know the truth of what happened to caylee… i don’t think casey will ever talk about it… she hasn’t thus far, so why would she have a change of heart now???

what does everyone else think about the request to search for caylee in private a few days before she was charged yesterday??? why would she all of a sudden want to do it now when she had the opportunity in june/july???

(9) Larry says:

This case has bitter overtones of the Jon Benet Ramsey case. They had a body there, and never even brought charges against the other Ramsey family members. Here they have no body and are probably going to seek the death penalty. Had they of done that to the Ramseys I think one of them would have cracked. In any event, I beleive like the lady that said they may offer a plea bargain for the place where little Caylee was left and the motive as to why shy killed her own daughter. You can look in the womans cold dark eyes the evil that lurks within . May God keep little Caylee forever in his arms like all the other babies that have went through the same thing. Especially those who were aborted.

Casey needs to be made to tell what she did to her daughter, she damn well knows. Her mother is blind as a bat. What mother would wait so long to find her child unless something tragic happened. She probably gave her child a sleeping aid so she could go out and party, then she overdosed her child. Frantic and was afraid to tell what she did got rid of the body. She deserves to get the death penalty just for her lies alone!

this is the sadest story that i have ever heard of, i can’t even pinch my children let alone do something intentionally to hurt them..justice needs to be brought against this horrible mother and the death penalty needs to be given as well..caylee got it for absolutely nothing..all because mom wanted to run around…she should be ashamed of her own life and existence…

Whatever is “wrong” with Casey Anthony she got it honest. Cindy weaves a story almost as good as Casey does if not better. It is clear her mother taught her everything she knows. Cindy is not stupid enough to believe that poor Caylee is still alive; she is just trying to protect Casey now. Regardless of what she learned from her mother, though, Casey is nothing less than a monster for what she did. Cindy still insists Caylee is alive and that the “truth” is going to come out and we will all understand. I can’t imagine what it must have been like growing up in that house!

(13) CJ says:

I agree with Larry…it does resemble the Ramsey case; however, the mother is just the opposite in personality.

The dates, dukes, and cue balls all fit the same scenario though.

Wished I lived in Fla., I’d help in the upcoming search. Perhaps this would be a good time to go visit my award winning banjo picking cousin down there.

i can not believe strangers are donating money to casey anthony’s jail account…

i also want to know the REAL reason why cindy, george, or lee have not visited casey in jail??? cindy claims it was casey who asked them not to, and to keep the focus off of her and on her daughter, caylee… we all know casey loves the camera, so how true can that explanation actually be???

(15) Linda says:

Casey probably blames father for testifying at grand jury. Probably blames her mother for being more concerned about Cayley than her. Maybe parents are getting the first “break” from their psycho daughter. If she gets out of prison she’ll probably come after her parents.

(16) Michelle says:

Im afraid perhaps my view of this is much different. If Casey had planned this murder she would have had a plan for the body and not let the child rott inside the car. Perhaps it WAS an accident and she couldnt let go? I think perhaps she wanted to party, and just used some chloroform to keep Cylie asleep, not intending to murder her. Thats not an Excuse by any means, but it also doesnt equate to murder. Homocide maybe, not murder.

Casey is definately troubled, but remember she is a 22 year old whose life is completely OVER. In 10 years she would have outgrown alot of this stuff and been a normal woman. What shes left with is a harsh reality for what very well may have been a reckless and careless accident.

Maybe Im soft in my old age, but this woman has to suffer torment that no one here could ever ever relate to. Its ok to have compassion for those who are guilty. Think back into your own pasts for mistakes you made, and how they could have ended much worse. Let God condemn her, we should forgive.

(17) melanie says:

as i mentioned before-i do not feel casey should receive the death penalty… i do feel she should somehow be punished for what she has done…

i too think she killed caylee on accident… i think she was scared to tell anyone because she was ashamed, embarassed, and scared…

i do have trouble comprehending all the lies… if she didn’t want to admit what happened to caylee, she should have just said “i don’t know” or something… instead she made up a scheme of multiple lies to try and cover up… this only made ot worse for her…

i know a lot of people lie when put on the spot, but the amount of them she came up with, not even just to the police, are way too many!!!

Please Casey tell the truth you are already in a bad situation than you already are. Help us find Caylee. To be honest with you, you put yourself in this situation no one did. PLEASE HELP US FIND CAYLEE that is the the most important thing right now. I don’t feel sorry for you right now.

What if snow falls in July? There is evidence supporting that there was a decomposing body in the grandmother’s car! Hello! It is all just wishful thinking. That woman is a lying murdering evil person who did not deserve to be called mother.

I hope Casey burns in hell for eterinity. She definately deserves the death penalty. I can’t understand the mind set of a person that can carry a baby inside them for nine months then one day decided to get rid of the child and dispose of them as if they were trash. I hope Casey is sentenced to death and I hope the other inmates in jail give her what she deserves.

(23) kalendara says:

The skull & crossbones on chloroform websites were big enough to read from a space satellite. In Florida it is felony murder ONE to abuse a child, which administering this controlled poison is, if that act results in murder. It is not an accident. If you drop your baby off a roof, it is not an accident.
