2nd Jury Selection Begins for Phil Spector

Friday October 3, 2008
Several hundred potential jurors began answering questionnaires this week in preparation for the second murder trial of fames music producer Phil Spector for the murder of actress Lana Clarkson. A prescreening process aimed at eliminating jurors with obvious bias for or against Spector began Thursday in Los Angeles.

Last year, a mistrial was declared in his first trial for second-degree murder when jurors deadlocked.

Spector has been free on $1 million bail since the Feb. 3, 2003 shooting death at his home. Clarkson died from a single gunshot wound to her mouth. Her body was found slumped in a chair in the foyer of Spector's mansion just hours after the two first met at a Hollywood club where she worked.

During the first trial, defense attorneys argued there was no forensic evidence pointing to Spector's guilt, including a lack of blood spatter and gunshot residue on his hands and clothes.
