Ohio Woman Sentenced in Armored-Car Robbery
An Ohio woman who helped her boyfriend load $8 million into his truck from a armored car company robbery has been sentenced to five years in prison by a federal judge. Nicole Boyd, 25, could have received up to 25 years for the theft at AT Systems in Liberty, Ohio on Nov. 26, 2007.Roger Dillon, 23, and his mother, Sharon Lee Gregory, have also been charged with the theft.
Authorities said Dillion, a former driver and messenger at AT Systems used the security code of another employee and pulled his truck into a garage at the company and loaded it with bags containing $6.7 million in cash and more than $1 million in checks.
Dillon then reset the alarm and got away in the truck. Boyd, a former seamstress and part-time stripper, sat in the truck and helped load the bags, investigators said. The theft was timed to take advantage of the extra cash that would be on hand for the up-coming after-Thanksgiving shopping weekend.
Dillon, Mother Sentenced
FBI agents found receipts in Boyd's abandoned pickup truck that led them to search West Virginia for the robbers. Five days after the heist, Boyd, Dillion and his mother were arrested in Pipestem, West Virginia in a mobile home.
Most of the money from the robbery was stacked up inside the mobile home. All but about $3,500 was recovered.
A day after Boyd was sentenced, Dillon was sentenced to eight years in prison and his mother, who did not take part in the actual theft, received a three-year sentence. Because the sentences are for federal prison, there will be no parole or good time earned.
Each defendant will serve the entire sentence behind bars.
