The man who confessed in detail to the kidnapping and murder of Meredith Emerson in the north Georgia mountains, has decided to fight extradition to Florida to face charges of killing a woman in the Apalachicola National Forest near Tallahassee. He also wants a court-appointed attorney to help him avoid being transferred to Florida.
Hilton has been charged in Florida with the murder of Cheryl Hodges Dunlap, who disappeared Dec. 1, 2007 and her body was found Dec. 19 in the national forest. Like Emerson, Dunlap had been decapitated.
Suspected Serial Killer
Hilton told a Lamar County, Georgia, superior court judge that he wanted to fight extradition and contest the Florida charges. He demanded a court-appointed attorney.
Hilton is also suspected in the murder of Irene Bryant, 84, and her husband, John Bryant, 80, on a hiking trail in North Carolina. No charges have been filled in North Carolina.
