Auburn Student Shot, Car Torched
An 18-year-old Auburn University student was found shot on a highway near the school about 20 minutes before her car was found on fire in a campus parking lot. A $10,000 reward has been offered for information about the killer of Lauren Burk, a graduate of Walton High School in Marietta, Georgia.
Just after 9 p.m. Tuesday, police answered a call concerning an injured female along Alabama Highway 147 near Auburn University and found Burk suffering from a single gunshot wound. She was taken to East Alabama Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
About 20 minutes later, authorities received another call about a black 2001 Honda Civic in the parking lot of Hinton Field on the Auburn campus. The vehicle turned out to be Bruk's.
If investigators have any clues in the case, they are not sharing them with the media.
Police: 'We Won't Rest'
"As soon as we know more we might release it, but what information we have now we're holding it close to our chest," Auburn police Capt. Tom Stofer told reporters.
"We've dedicated all possible resources to trying to find the perpetrator of this crime," Stofer said. "Auburn, Alabama is a relatively quiet community of students and we take things like this personally. If anyone suffers injury or death, we all feel it, and we won't rest until we find the perpetrator."

He should be executed and rott in hell for what he did. It’s people like him that makes this world an unsafe environment we live in today. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Burk family.
