Jury selection has begun in the trial of an Oklahoma man accused of killing a 10-year-old neighbor girl whose dismembered body was found in a plastic tub in his apartment. Kevin Ray Underwood is facing first-degree murder charges in the April 2006 death of Jamie Rose Bolin.

On April 14, 2006, an Amber Alert was issued for Jamie after she failed to return from a trip to the library. Authorities first thought she may have been abducted by a man she met on the Internet.

The following day, however, her body was found in the plastic tub inside a closet in the apartment of Underwood, in the same apartment building where Jamie lived with her father.

According to her autopsy, Jamie (pictured) was struck on the head and her neck was cut to the bone from ear to ear. The cause of death was listed as asphyxia. Authorities said she was sexually assaulted after she died.

"Regarding a potential motive, this appears to have been part of a plan to kidnap a person, rape them, torture them, kill them, cut off their head, drain the body of blood, rape the corpse, eat the corpse, then dispose of the organs and bones," Police Chief David Tompkins said at the time of Underwood's arrest.

Underwood's trail was moved from Purcell, Oklahoma, to Norman because of pretrial publicity. The state plans to seek the death penalty.
