"We found the victim. She's safe," Nye County sheriff's Detective David Boruchowitz told reporters.
Police released photos of the five-year-old they referred to as "Madison" to help find the missing girl. After she was located, investigators asked that her photo not be used in the media. The girl is now seven years old and lives with her mother, who was unaware of the assault of her daughter, police said.
Chester Stiles is also wanted on an unrelated charge of lewdness with a minor younger than 14 as well as a federal charge of fleeing to avoid prosecution.
Tape Found in Desert
On the videotape, a man believed to be Stiles, brutally sexually assaults the five-year-old girl. Police determined the assault was filmed over a video of a 10-year-old through her bedroom window in a 2005 peeping Tom incident in which no one was ever charged.
The tape was found in a plastic bag under a sign in the desert by other man, Darren Tuck, who held on to the tape for five months before turning it in to police. Tuck is being charged with a probation violation for not turning in the tape in a timely fashion, authorities said.
The case will be featured this week on "America Most Wanted.
