Aruban Investigators 'Inspect' Kalpoe Home

Tuesday May 15, 2007
Dutch and Aruban authorities visited the home of Surinamese brothers Deepak and Satish Kalpoe this weekend to continue their investigation into the disappearance of Alabama teen Natalee Holloway. Nothing was seized at the home and the prosecutor's office in Aruba would release no other details about the investigation.

The procedure carried out at the Kalpoe home was called an "inspection," which under Dutch/Aruban law has a special definition. According to a statement released by the prosecutor's office: "An inspection is a coercive measure aimed at observing or analyzing a specific place or circumstances under which a criminal offense may have been committed, or to establish facts related to a criminal case."

Deepak and Satish Kalpoe were both at home when the inspection took place. They objected and were escorted from the property by Aruban police.

Investigation Deadline Near?

The inspection of the Kalpoe home came just over two weeks after a full-scale, two-day search of the home of Joran van der Sloot, in which several bags were taken away by the 20 searchers.

The second anniversary of Natalee Holloway's disappearance is May 30. Under Aruban law, charges in a murder case must be officially brought against any suspects within two years.
