Police Search for 'Barbie Bandits'

Thursday March 1, 2007
Georgia police are asking the public's help in identifying two young females who calmly held up a bank branch in a grocery store, wearing only dark sunglasses as a disguise. Cobb County investigators have received several tips after releasing photos of the two young women the press has named the "Barbie Bandits."

The two appeared to be laughing and enjoying themselves as they handed a note to a Bank of America teller in a Kroger store in Ackworth, Georgia, north of Atlanta. The two made off with a substantial amount of cash. It was not clear if they were armed or not.

Officer Wayne Delk said police had not been able to determine how the two, who could be as young as 16, got away from the store. They were not spotted on outside surveillance cameras.
