Crime Surge Continues in Katrina's Wake

When the city of Houston opened its arms to welcome thousands of Hurricane Katrina evacuees from New Orleans, it also opened itself up to an increase in crime that is now taxing the city's resources and spirit of hospitality. With the FEMA free-rent vouchers about to expire, and potentially thousands of evacuees about to become homeless, Houston and other cities may be on the verge of another surge in Katrina-related crime.
