Order Rejecting Debra Lafave's Plea Agreement

Circuit Judge Hale R. Stancil explains specifically why he rejected the plea agreement between Marion County prosecutors and accused sexual offender Debra Lafave, saying there were other steps the state could have taken to protect the privacy of the victim, even if he testified.

Hours after a Marion County judge rejected a plea deal for Debra Lafave, the Florida middle school teacher accused of having sex with one of her 14-year-old students, state prosecutors dropped all charges against her to protect the victim in the case. Read more.
