Rusty Yates Remarries as Wife's Trial Nears
Rusty Yates, who divorced Andrea Yates in 2005, was remarried in a private ceremony Saturday in the same church where the funeral for his five children was held almost five years earlier.
Rusty Yates married 41-year-old Laura Arnold at Clear Lake Church of Christ. About 100 people attended the private ceremony in the church where the couple met.
After the ceremony, minister Byron Fike said in statement prepared for the press that Yates had decided to move forward with his life and not dwell on the past. "It is easy to judge the actions of another, as though we know all the intricate details of their life story. Jesus has warned us against such judgments," he said.
Rusty Yates returned home from work in June 2001 to find that his wife had drowned their five children. She was convicted and sentenced to life in prison, but her conviction was overruled. Her second trial is scheduled to begin Monday.
