Teen Pleads Guilty to Stabbing Mom 111 Times

Saturday February 11, 2006
A Michigan 16-year-old, who stabbed his mother 111 times after she discovered he was trying to learn how to make a bomb, agreed to plead guilty to second-degree murder in exchange for a sentence that will allow him someday to walk out of prison -- in 22-1/2 to 34 years.

Christopher Dankovich was 15 when he stabbed his mother, Diane Michele, 50, last year in her Rochester Hills home. He was arrested later the day her body was discovered at the family's St. Helen's cabin 100 miles away.

"The family desired that the matter be resolved without a trial," defense attorney Mitchell Ribitwer said. "There's been enough trauma, misery and anguish already."

"He didn't want to leave prison in a casket," prosecutor Lisa Ortlieb Gorcyca said.

Donkovich could possible be paroled before he turns 40. He will be officially sentenced March 6.
