The 18-year-old who shot his girlfriend's parents after they told him to stop seeing the 14-year-old will face the death penalty if convicted of their murders, according to Lancaster County District Attorney Don Totaro.

David Ludwig faces murder charges as well as firearms violations and sexual assault charges. The kidnapping charges against him were dropped when his girlfriend, Kara Beth Borden told investigators that she left her home willingly with Ludwig after her parents were shot.

Totaro said statements made by Ludwig to investigators exonerated Kara Beth of any involvement in planning or carrying out the shootings of her parents. "There was no plan or no agreement to harm her parents in any way," Totaro said.

Ludwig and Borden left Pennsylvania in his parents' car after the murders and were captured in Indiana after he ran the car into tree during a police chase.
