State Sues BTK Killer's Psychologists
"It is unthinkable that anyone would attempt to profit off of the victims of these heinous acts," Attorney General Phill Kline said. "We will do everything within our authority and the power of this office to protect the victims from further exploitation."
Although the videotaped sessions were aired on "Dateline NBC" five days before Rader was sentenced to 10 consecutive life sentences, the lawsuit does not claim that "Dateline" paid the psychologists for use of the tape.
The lawsuit demands that the psychologists return the $57,314 the state paid them for the evaluation of Rader and seeks $75,000 in damages. The psychologists are Robert Mendoza and Tali Walters, who work for Cambridge Forensic Consultants in Massachusetts.
